A Victorian Gold, Emerald, Garnet and Pearl Snake Necklace, circa 1860

The pendant modelled as a snake’s head, set with two emerald-cut emeralds in collet mounts with four half pearls and two circular cabochon-cut garnet highlights representing the eyes, all above a scroll work detailed head, suspending from the open mouth a heart shaped locket drop with chased and scroll work detail to both sides with single cabochon-cut emerald to the front and back, opening to reveal a locket compartment with a locket of hair in a heart shape, the head below a textured coiled tail to a snake link chain, the links graduating in size, the clasp integral to the snake’s head

Unmarked tests as 18 carat gold
