Susan’s gallery talks are the perfect way for her to do this. Through regular events at her Harrogate showroom, she has been taking guests on a jewellery tour of the world and the centuries. On display during each talk are pieces that illustrate or are related to the particular subject of the day. Guests are welcome to browse the pieces afterwards and talk to Susan in more depth about them.
Her fascinating talks have proved popular with fans of fine jewellery from the start, and tickets are always much in demand. They cover subjects as diverse as the jewels and life of Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis, a new ‘Gems of the World’ series that begins next month with Sri Lanka, and a look at Egyptian jewellery planned for later this year to coincide with the 100th anniversary of the discovery of Tutankhamun’s tomb.

Susan’s programme of talks during August and September offer the usual variety of subject matter. She’ll be discussing the rules of jewellery etiquette throughout the ages, as well as taking a look at jewels with a story to tell.
There’ll also be the gemstone journey around Sri Lanka mentioned earlier in this blog, as well as Steven Moore’s delve into afternoon tea.

There are still a few places left on some of the remaining talks in July. Discover more about jewels in paintings in the pre-Raphaelite era during a talk entitled Jewellery in Paintings II: Artistic Splendour, with tickets still available for Saturday 23rd July at 11am and Friday 29th July at 11am.
Tickets are also still available for Exceptional Style: The House of Mellerio dits Meller on Friday 22nd July at 11am and Thursday 28th July at 11am. This talk will take a look at the impressive client list of the House of Mellerio dits Meller dating back to 1613 and includes such names as Medici, Bonaparte and Marie Antionette.
All talks are held at Susan’s gallery in Harrogate. Tickets cost £38, inclusive of tea and coffee on arrival and a glass of fizz afterwards.
