Our Jewellery and Asian Art Valuation Days offer a great opportunity to have your pieces appraised by an expert later this month.

Fine jewellery specialist Susan Rumfitt and Asian art specialist Lee Young – both familiar faces from the BBC’s Antiques Roadshow – will be at Susan’s gallery in Harrogate for a very special event ahead of two auctions later this year.

They are inviting people across Yorkshire to bring their items to the gallery on September 27th or 28th for a no-obligation valuation.

Susan says: “Experts in the field of Asian Art can be hard to find for valuations in the North of England, so I’m delighted to be hosting Lee and his team in Harrogate and to give people the chance to find out more about their items and what they are worth.”

The event is a collaboration between Susan Rumfitt Fine Jewellery and the Dore & Rees Auctioneers in Frome, where Susan is Head of Jewellery and Lee is head of Asian Art. Following the valuations, people will be given the opportunity to consign their items into Dore & Rees fine jewellery and Asian art auctions in November and December.

Susan is particularly keen to see jade and Art Deco pieces, while Lee is excited to appraise all kinds of Asian art.

Lee says: “I am very excited to be joining Susan in Harrogate to discover the range of Asian Art that people in Yorkshire and the North East have in their possession. As with all valuation events, the joy is in helping people understand more about the history and value of the pieces they own. We are also, of course, hoping to find a real treasure among them that takes our breath away. Any item with a link to the Imperial family would be amazing.”

Asian art covers a diverse range of items including sculptures, paintings, vases, furniture, bronzes, woodblock prints, calligraphy and porcelain. Recent world events have not dampened the booming Chinese art market, which continues to attract strong attention from collectors globally. Fine examples of ceramics, jade and bronzes from key dynasties, alongside calligraphy, paintings, artworks in cloisonné, enamel and wood are being consigned to auctions, with world record prices achieved for the best examples from the Song, Yuan, Ming and Qing dynasties, along with highly prized objects from the Imperial Palaces.

The event will also be of interest to anyone with an passion for Asian art but without an item to value, as it will feature a talk from Lee sharing his insights into the Asian Art auction market. There will also be the chance to view a number of selected pieces from the Dore & Rees auction house in Frome, Somerset.
