Buying jewellery at a gallery is very different to buying from a high street shop. Not only do the pieces available at a gallery differ from those in a store, but the experience is vastly different too.

For collectors and admirers of vintage and antique jewellery, buying from a gallery can enhance the browsing and buying experience in a way that the high street cannot. It offers a more personal experience that leads you to your perfect piece of quality jewellery. It also gives reassurance that you are buying a unique piece curated by a specialist.

Jewellery auctions

Jewellery talks

Complementing the buying, selling and auction services available at Susan’s gallery are a regular series of fascinating jewellery talks. Covering a wide range of topics, the talks have most recently included a look at jewellery etiquette through the ages and the lavish world of American society weddings.

For anyone interested in the history, traditions and creation of fine jewellery, Susan’s talks offer the chance to find out more from a true expert. Drawing on her extensive knowledge and vast experience, Susan presents an insightful and informative take on jewellery through the ages and its importance to individuals and families as well as its changing role in society.

The talks are presented in the relaxed setting of Susan’s gallery in the heart of Harrogate. On arrival, you will be offered tea or coffee and will have the chance to chat to the other guests who share the same passion and interest in the history of fine jewellery as you.

The talk itself is around an hour long and is brought to life through images projected onto a screen, with Susan pointing out specific details that illustrate what she is discussing. There is also a display of pieces that tend to relate to the particular subject of the day, which guests can enjoy browsing after the talk.

The session is relaxed and inclusive, with questions and observations being taken from the audience as the talk progresses. There is also the chance at the end to ask Susan for more details about aspects of her talk or to make observations. This is always a lively discussion and demonstrates Susan’s vast knowledge as she is able to answer and expand on all questions.
